"Dana Mills is a truly exceptional writer, and his short stories, brilliant and moving, affirm this in startling and profound ways. Each story shows a grasp of his art and his understanding of humanity. From small towns to open seas, all are penned with confidence, intellectual honesty, and love. They have in them the feeling and tenaciousness of a lived life, where the light of truth shines through. I have been extremely proud of introducing a few writers to a wider audience in my years as a novelist, and Dana Mills is one." —2019 Writers' Trust Rising Stars selector David Adams Richards
