Latner Writers' Trust Poetry Prize

Winner: $25,000

Prize Guidelines

The $25,000 Latner Writers’ Trust Poetry Prize will be awarded once a year to a Canadian poet in recognition of a remarkable body of work and in hope of future contributions to Canadian poetry.

All eligible poets in mid-career are to be considered. For the purposes of this prize, mid-career is defined as having published at least three collections of poetry that demonstrate outstanding mastery in the art of poetry. No age restrictions apply. Recipients must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

A three-member jury will be selected by the Writers’ Trust of Canada. They will be directed to survey the field of possible candidates, interpret the rules of eligibility, and select a prize winner. There will be no submission process.

Poets who serve on the jury will not be eligible to be considered for the prize until a minimum of two years has passed since their term of service.
